...RED FLAG WARNING THIS AFTERNOON FOR SOUTH CENTRAL SOUTH DAKOTA...

THIS HAZARDOUS WEATHER OUTLOOK IS FOR WESTERN SOUTH DAKOTA AND
NORTHEASTERN WYOMING.

.DAY ONE...TODAY AND TONIGHT

A LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM TO THE NORTH OF THE AREA WILL BRING GUSTY WINDS
AND DRY AIR TO THE AREA TODAY. WEST TO NORTHWEST WINDS OF 15 TO 30
MPH...WITH HIGHER GUSTS...CAN BE EXPECTED FROM NORTHWEST INTO SOUTH
CENTRAL SD. THE DRY AIR AND MILD TEMPERATURES WILL ALLOW RELATIVE
HUMIDITIES TO DROP TO NEAR 15 PERCENT ACROSS SOUTH CENTRAL SOUTH
DAKOTA...WITH MINIMUM VALUES RANGING FROM AROUND 20 PERCENT TO 25
PERCENT ELSEWHERE. THE COMBINATION OF WIND AND LOW HUMIDITY WILL
LIKELY RESULT IN A PERIOD OF CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS DURING
THE AFTERNOON OVER SOUTH CENTRAL SOUTH DAKOTA.

THE GRASSLAND FIRE DANGER INDEX WILL BE IN THE EXTREME CATEGORY
ACROSS MOST OF THE WESTERN AND SOUTH CENTRAL SOUTH DAKOTA PLAINS.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...FRIDAY THROUGH WEDNESDAY

THE NEXT STORM SYSTEM WILL AFFECT THE AREA OVER THE WEEKEND AND INTO
EARLY NEXT WEEK. THERE IS A LOT OF UNCERTAINTY RIGHT NOW WITH REGARD
TO THE TRACK OF THIS SYSTEM...BUT PRECIPITATION DOES LOOK LIKELY OVER
THE AREA...ESPECIALLY FROM SATURDAY NIGHT INTO MONDAY. SHOWERS AND
THUNDERSTORMS WILL DEVELOP SATURDAY AFTERNOON AND NIGHT. SEVERE
THUNDERSTORMS ARE NOT EXPECTED AT THIS TIME...BUT GUSTY WINDS AND
HEAVY RAINFALL LOOK POSSIBLE WITH THE STRONGER STORMS. RAINFALL IS
EXPECTED THROUGH AT LEAST SUNDAY...WITH SOME COLDER AIR MOVING INTO
THE REGION SUNDAY NIGHT AND MONDAY. TEMPERATURES COULD BECOME COLD
ENOUGH FOR SOME SNOWFALL ACROSS NORTHEAST WYOMING AND FAR WESTERN
SOUTH DAKOTA LATER SUNDAY NIGHT...ESPECIALLY THE HIGHER ELEVATIONS.
STRONG WINDS ARE ALSO POSSIBLE BY EARLY NEXT WEEK.

.SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT...

SPOTTER ACTIVATION WILL NOT BE NEEDED.
