    On this date in weather history...
    In 1957, there was a summer freeze at Canaan Valley, Tucker County. The 25 degrees that was measured on this morning is a state record for coolest August temperature in West Virginia. It was later tied in 1982. On this morning, Birch River and Cranberry Glades both measured 35 degrees for a low temperature.
