Organization
and Analysis of Data
These
data need to be organized, documented and quality controlled.
Also, it will be necessary to estimate components of the
surface radiation budget from the available surface observations
using empirical methods and spatial analyses of the point
observations. These empirical techniques need to be examined
using data from experiments such as FIFE and HAPEX and using
other data
being collected by the CSEs.
Quality
control and checking will be undertaken by the hydrologists
working with the data and will thus be part of the data
analysis and parameter estimation. This should ensure a
high degree of consistency and make this an extremely valuable
asset for hydrological research.
Data Dissemination
The
MOPEX data will be placed on an FTP site in the Office of
Hydrology. An electronic catalogue of the available basin
data will be maintained. The data will be readily and freely
available to the international research community. The data
formats have yet to be determined but will take account
of existing systems/formats and will be chosen for ease
of use and storage efficiency. A range of formats are likely
to be available for consideration as it will be necessary
to accept the data in the formats used by the provider.
Similarly, the results of the parameter estimation studies/experiments
will be placed on the FTP site for dissemination to MOPEX
participants and the international scientific community.
The results of the MOPEX parameter estimation experiments
will be published individually and jointly by project participants
in
refereed journals.
